Sakina O’Uhuru serves as a licensed Midwife in the states of New York and New Jersey.

She held the position as site Director/Director of Midwifery service of Morris Heights Women’s Health &Birthing Pavilion in the Bronx between 1999-2004. MHHC was the first clinic to offer out of hospital prenatal care in an underserved community in New York City.

In 2002, she founded her private practice, Gentle Spirit Homebirth Midwifery Service that offers comprehensive women’s health care services. She has attended well over 500 out of hospital births for women in the NY/NJ metropolitan area.

In the documentary Home Delivery she is featured as the midwife attending Nadhege’s home birth. She offered tremendous patience, unwaivering support and constant reassurance for this lengthy birth journey.
